Dorrit Pealy Award
In 2002 CHS established an award in honor of Dorrit Pealy, a founding board member of CHS, who continued her board service until her death in 2001. Dorrit was very active in the community. She managed political campaigns, chaired the Fircrest Foundation, and served on the Metro Council (the forerunner of the Metro King County Council), in addition to her lifetime commitment to CHS. Before her retirement, she was a political science professor at the University of Washington and mentored and inspired her students there as well. Dorrit was well known as a champion for children, families and social justice.
The Dorrit Pealy Award is presented at the Community Connections Dinner each year to honor an individual and/or organization for “Outstanding Community Support”. Dorrit was the type of person who made a lasting difference in the community just as the individuals and organizations we honor with this award.
