In 2002 the King County Housing Authority approached CHS to take organizational
leadership of the Homework Factory after-school program at their Ballinger Homes
site. In one year, CHS grew this program from an after-school activity serving 12
youth to a full-fledged family center. The Homework Factory now provides academic
support to over 100 school-age youth a year.
The Ballinger Family Support Center is located in the center of a low-income housing
community managed by the King County Housing Authority. We provide support and education
to the 110 families who live in this community.
