Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention
The substance abuse department's mission is to reduce/eliminate substance abuse from the lives of youth and adults in North King County and South Snohomish County. To fulfill this mission we offer prevention, intervention, and treatment services for youth and adults.
About Our Programs
Our Substance Abuse Department is dedicated to providing holistic treatment services for individuals who are harmfully involved with alcohol and/or other drugs. We provide substance abuse treatment for adults through our Shoreline Substance Abuse Program. We offer substance abuse treatment for youth through our Shoreline Substance Abuse Program, Scriber Lake STARS Program, and our Northshore Substance Abuse Program.

Our Substance Abuse Program also provides youth prevention and intervention services through our Partners in Prevention Program, our Shoreline Substance Abuse Program (ADIS) as well as our Northshore Substance Abuse Program.  See our flier for True Colors groups for LGBTQ youth.

Assertive Adolescent and Family Treatment Project (AAFT):  CHS Substance Abuse program received a federally funded grant through King County to provide treatment service to low income and indigent youth in King County between the ages of 12 and 17. The grant is funded by US Department of Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Youth must have an alcohol or other drug problem (abuse or dependency). They must complete an ASAM assessment requiring level I.0 Outpatient or level II.1 Intensive Outpatient treatment. Parental permission and a six month commitment are required to complete this free program, including a six month follow-up. The evidenced based practice Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach/Assertive Continuing Care, or A-CRA/ACC, is used by certified CHS staff to administer this project. This consists of individual sessions, family/caregiver sessions, and case management.
