>On Wednesday, May 26th, representatives from Global Justice Law Group visited the Northshore Family Center to share information about immigrants’ rights and immigration law with members of the community.
Response to the ‘Know Your Rights’ workshop was overwhelming. Within two days of sending out a flier for the workshop, we had over 50 people call to RSVP. More than 30 adults attended the workshop, participating by sharing their experiences and asking in-depth questions. Experienced immigration attorney Karol Brown and law intern Mary Beth Leeper shared information with the participants for over two hours and answered many specific questions.
We realize the immigration climate in Western Washington is more complicated than ever, with participants sharing a wealth of stories involving racial profiling, discriminatory practices, and illegal questioning during routine traffic stops. As United States immigration policy becomes a frequent and heated topic in the news and in our communties, this is an excellent time to advocate for reform.
We will be holding a second Know Your Rights workshop in Spanish at the Northshore Family Center on Wednesday, August 5th, at 6:30pm. If you’re interested in attending, call 425-205-2004 to reserve your spot.
